HAWTHORN is lining up for a historic three-peat and this week the boys discuss the biggest game on the AFL calendar.
West Coast has stunned many in 2015 with their surge to the decider and Sam Edmund acknowledges many had underestimated Adam Simpson’s men heading into the season. And the coach himself — coaching against the team where he previously served as an assistant — is one of the best stories of the week.
Mick Warner admires the Hawks but would like to see a changing of the guard at the top of the AFL tree, while all the panel agree the Hawks might have a tough time finalising their 22, as Jack Gunston, Ryan Schoenmakers, Billy Hartung and Will Langford are sure to have the selection panel scratching their heads.
“This could be a four, five, six-hour job (at selection). This could be huge.”
With all losers at preliminary final weekend, there’s much reflection and the boys take a look at North Melbourne and Fremantle.
With the Dockers, much can be put down to personnel but Mick also took aim elsewhere.
“There’s another reason they didn’t win and that was the umpiring.”
The boys loved Ross Lyon’s post-match press conference but Huddo also raised a question about the coach. “Does Ross Lyon have to change his style at all?”
On North, Mick stands by his call that they don’t have enough A Graders but was impressed by their fight to make the second-last week of the season.
